Muscat – The Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion (MoCIIP) has issued the Omani specification standard for hydrogen-fueled vehicles.
The standard specifies performance requirements related to safety, which will help reduce damages and loss in the event of an accident.
Nadia bint Mohammed al Siyabiya, Director of Specifications Department, MoCIIP, said that preparation of this standard is part of the government’s efforts to encourage and support sustainable clean energy.
The specifications have been set based on the global regulations of hydrogen vehicles issued by the World Forum for Harmonization of Vehicle Regulations in coordination with the major industrialised countries.
Nadia said hydrogen-fueled vehicles have three basic systems – the hydrogen supply and storage system, the fuel cell system, and the electric propulsion system.
She added that the success of hydrogen-fueled vehicles in Oman will lead to reduction of pollution-related issues resulting from petrol and diesel fuels.
